Nah, it's been and had the rust exorcised.

It's progressed from being called 'that bloody thing',  to the Fiesta.

So far I have not managed to get her to start, she cranks as soon as the Earth and main power lead are connected so I think ther is something amis with the starter solenoid or it's wiring.

There's no spark as yet, but it's a little tricky to correctly diagnose with the bodged Turbo wiring and it cranking by itself.. and the weather is crap.

I found out she has drilled rear disks, groved front disks and goodridge hoses.

I think the engine orignial came from a RWD applcation as there is a 2wd turbo sump, and the downpipes that were also in the boot don;t look like 4x4 ones.

So I need to haul the box off at some point and check there is a spigot bearing fitted.

It's got a tow bar ( no ball ) and spring assisters, but the springs have snapped so it looks like it was a tow car at some point.

pics of the mingin boot carpet after romoval of the 12v from the boot.
And after..

And the swap from the Pug wheels to the OZ's   :DD

And Dadys little helper ( note that the word helper is used in the looses terms. )

Note also the state of the interor, it's needing some work!!!

Makings of an interesting project there TT. My little helper smacked the drivers door of my 3 door with a 2lb hammer and when asked what he was doing he was "fixing it like Bob the Builder". Bless. Luckily that was BEFORE I painted it LOL. Cheesy

Daddy's little helper looks very handy.

One of mine once helped wash the car, I walked round the back to find him feeding the hose pipe down the exhaust, while the hose was going full belt..

No don't do that, I shouted as you can imagine.  Shocked

Well been out again, I was waiting for the bloomin cat to come home so I could take her to the VET.

I gave it a couple more trys to see if there was a spark, no joy. I can here the pump priming which is good.

So I am starting to pull the loom out so I can check it and rebuild it.

I found a big bunch of random wires the other day, had no idea what they were, and also a LED that I thought was from a crappy alarm.

Turned out that this must have been Aircon crap either from the donor car or the 4x4... anyway it's on it's way to the bin.

I have looked briefly at the ECU wires, it looks like they have been returned to standard from some previous bodgery, by bodging them. So thats to be cleaned up.

I decided it was best to remove the dash, save myself faffing arround.

Came out no bother apart from having to take the now returned Moggy to the vet on the other side of town.

I was actualy then surprised at how unbodged the wiring seems to be.

I have just got to sort out that "Pro Install" See pic three of the thacham cat 1 Sigma.

And then extract the engine loom for proper inspection.

I will clean up the dash parts before reinstalation.

Oh and the handbrake has what one would term, "rather a lot of travel"

Yesterday, whilst off work.

Went out and removed the Imobaliser circuits from the alarm.

Then tried yet again to start.  No Go. Still cranking by itself..

I am waiting on a replacement 2.9 Loom, and have also ordered a new TFI just incase.  I also need to confirm the dizzy is actually spinning!! Smiley

By then my feet were freezing..

I decided to take the dirty arm rest to the garage and spray with foam upholstery cleaner.  The can nozzel froze up after a few seconds...

I have decided to mod the bonnet, it's front lip has surface rust, and the back edges have been bent. So I will straigten them and chop the nose down to make a short nose bonnet. And fit the Cossy Grill...

Last news...

The PUG wheels sold for about £2 less than I paid for the OZ Super T's so that's a no cost upgrade virtualy..

Oh and I have ordered a TurboTechnics Decal.

Need ot get an XR4x4 one as that's missing.

Yeah.

Seem straight and the tyres have lots of tread. The do look a little close to the arches mind.

Not sure if it was a 4x4 2k.

I paid £130 fo the, which given the useable tyres seemd a gr8 deal.

Had a little time to play, I have got a Cossy bonnet to fit. It's been damaged in transit which I am trying to resolve with the seller but not having much luck. Anyway I wanted to get shot of the old one so the cossy bonnet it put on ... So the cossy one is on but hanging on to the old one just in case.

Just need to work out why both bonnets foul the air flow meters.

I have also had a chance to look at the silly starting problem ( cranking as soon as the battery was connected. After crawling underneat, getting covered in the usualy sierra oil slick and general crap I found a Huge cable connecting the Main lead to the solenoid lead. Whilst trying to remove this I remembered why I hate working on Twin Turbo's Cheesy  .

It took a bit of playing and cleanign of the wires but it now cranks using the key. Which is a big improvement..

Hopefully a correct rear door is on it's way along with a shelf this weekend.
