Hi all, last time I was on this site it was FordPower! And like many others I migrated there from InterFord.
So judging by the usernames I recognise here I guess this site is an evolution of FordPower?
I'm not driving a Ford anymore, but will be using a Ford powerplant in the latest project.
I've just aquired a very solid '83 Chevette hatchback. I wasn't really looking for one but one came my way for a quarter of the price of an equally solid Mk 2 Escort, and at roughly same size/weight, I thought it was worth a punt.
With it's standard 50ish horsepower engine and notoriously weak axles (will take 100hp tops), I'm planning a major change of scenery in the engine room. After a fair bit of thinking, I'm going to try a 1600 Zetec SE mated to a type 9 box, ideally on bike throttle bodies but budget depending may be bike carbs. Aiming for a modest 130 hp.
I havn't decided what axle to run, weather to stick with a beam (very limited choice due to torque tube type construction) or slip a subframe in (Sierra, Subaru, 4x4 Golf

) and go independant.
I'll be wanting to keep the car looking as standard as possible from the outside.
